Macchars don’t wear sweaters

Diwali

It was like a war zone here in India yesterday. Incessant deep thuds and bangs of thousands of fireworks going off simultaenously for hours without end. The horizon flickering constantly and billows of smoke rising from behind trees and houses. Every now and then a rocket would snake up the night sky and go of with a loud report and a brilliant dazzle of light, throwing out multicoloured sparkles in all directions. Every house was lit up with decorative lights and candles and lanes resounded with the excited laughter of kids playing with crackers. The festiveness in the air was undeniable. The atmosphere had a tingle of contained excitement, of joyfullness and revelery.

But yet, if you are not part of it, your feelings of desolation and isolation are heightened. No matter what you do, roam from room to room, try to busy yourself in different activities, you cant rid yourself of this feeling.
